There are two additional classes after school on the following dates:
Please also remember that C1 is available to you most afternoon's after school until about 5.30pm for editing and sometimes at lunch as well. |
|
week 9 - 13th november
THE CHOICE IS YOURS:
You may revise for your exams OR you can continue with Media work. You know what to do. Follow the task menu or edit using Da Vinci Resolve. If you want to upload media the USB SD card reader is on my desk. If you get an error message on login this WON'T restrict you editing or saving your work to the Media folder. You may need to convert the footage to MOV first and to do this you need to use a media converter.

week 8 - 6th november
Some groups have filmed, some groups are filming and some groups are yet to film. This is normal. YOU WILL ALL GET THERE IN THE END.
However, you all need to finish by the end of this term. That means completed Portfolio of research and planning (15 marks available), completed trailer, filmed, edited and sound post-produced (20 marks available). If you want As or A*s you will need to get close to top marks for both and also for the Evaluation which will be written over Xmas. This week:
Monday's lessons
Thursday's lesson

Next Week
You have PPEs so it is important NOT to lose focus and motivation. Make sure that you continue with task and/or production and if possible use C1 for editing during lunch or after school. |
week 6
Is all about being ready for production. Before you can film you will need to a schedule, storyboard, risk assessment and everything necessary to make your production a success. Without these things you WILL NOT be able to A) borrow equipment, B) film your trailer.
FAIL TO PREPARE AND YOU ARE PREPARING TO FAIL Keep all your research and planning work together in your folders - either Z drive, the Media drive (which you can only access in C1) or in the purple folder. |
|
week 4 and 5
Groups have broadly been decided but there will be some changes.
All of you have the menu for research and planning. If you lose it it is here. You can download it. Finalised groups will be posted here after Thursday's lesson. This week we will be using the cameras and ensuring that you are all familiar with film practices. |

welcome to year 11 media studies
Below is what I expect you to have for this coming week.
- Your HW due for Monday 26th and today's audit of CAs. Please remember to complete your work ASAP to avoid the 4th of October after school intervention.
- Make sure that you are ready for Monday when you may be asked to present your ideas to the class.
- BRING YOUR CA3a and b booklet and PLC which was sent to you in the purple folder last term (you can find this below, it will be your 'media bible' for the next 2 months).
- Check FROG, the CA 3a and b site has been shared with you. You should be able to view the previous years trailers there. Let me know if you are able to. or if it doesn't work properly.

XMAS HW - ASSIGNMENT 1B
A2 MUSIC VIDEOS - your chance to give your opinion
|
The link above is the survey for the music video extract to the left. It is not the complete video but please answer the questions as honestly as you can and help the year 13s develop their music videos.
|
|
The link immediately above is the survey for the work-in-progress music video to the left. It is not complete but it would really help the students if you can answer the questions honestly and help support their development.
|
Below are two more edits for another music video. The same material edited quite differently. Please feel free to watch both and answer their surveys as well.
|
The video at the bottom has a link on the Youtube page itself. please click there and follow it and answer the questions as fully as you can.
Many thanks from the year 13 students. |
Autumn 2
|
We are now beginning with the controlled assessments. These will contribute 60% of your final grade and it will be important that you make the best start possible and secure the highest marks you can. Assignment 1a is focussed on Print: magazine front covers and to help yourself, you will need to learn the relevant terminology and how to apply it to specific magazine front covers. Initially this will be led by me but gradually you will assume control till the point where we will complete the controlled assessment itself and you will have a limited time (rather like an exam) to concisely analyse two magazine front covers.
You can check out the specification below for details about the brief and the mark scheme though I will be telling you about this in class as well. |

year 10 media studiesWelcome to GCSE Media Studies. You are the fortunate ones who will have the rare chance to study the current specification and who will be assessed under the controlled assessment and short single exam method. Your course is well designed and the numbers speak for themselves when it comes to attainment in the past - 2015 GCSE results 48% A*-A! The expectations are therefore very high for you.
Below you will find an overview of the course for the next two years but this is not written in stone. Somethings won't change however, the exam is on Series Television Drama and you will all be involved with making trailers for Assignment 3. The first step for everyone will be to acquaint yourselves with the glossary below and to become familiar with the key concepts of media studies which underpin all our work. Please be aware that it is a requirement that you check this page regularly and also check FROG as both are used for classwork and HW. |
